KPR is seeking feedback on the Volunteers Policy and Administration Regulation. The day-to-day work of KPR schools and the Board is governed by Board policies and corresponding administrative regulations, which are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain up-to-date, culturally relevant, and responsive.
The draft Volunteers Policy and accompanying regulation propose a change in volunteer screening that helps address barriers to volunteering in KPR schools. Specifically, the proposed updates require volunteers to provide a police record check initially, followed by annual offence declarations for up to five years. This is to help reduce costs and wait times for volunteers who wish to support students and schools on a continual year-over-year basis and aligns with other school boards’ practices. These documents have also been updated to reflect minor language adjustments, and to move operational details from the policy into the administrative regulation.
Please review the draft documents and provide your comments on this form.
